Emily's love for “all things to do with pregnancy” was sparked when she was just 13 after meeting a missionary midwife in Pakistan. Graduating from Addington Hospital School of Nursing and Midwifery School in South Africa, she has attended more than 700 births over her career in birth as midwife, birth assistant, and doula. Known as "Memmy" in the Birth Doula community, she supports families ("Memmy's Mommas") in Home birth, Birth Center birth, and Hospital birth. Emily believes it's her privilege to support families in their healthy birthing choices and is honored to do so. No longer wearing the "nurse midwife's cap", Emily says that she proudly wears the "Doula Hat with a Midwife's Eyes and Mother's Heart".

Janet weaves four disciplines of nursing, childbirth education, counseling and doula into a supportive web that embraces the birthing family. Forty years ago as a student nurse she recognized the profound effect that birth has on women and their families. Since that time, she has added her experiences as an ICEA certified childbirth educator and DONA doula to her Masters in Christian Psychology to create a special network of skills to assist the birthing woman. Janet says her goal is "for women to achieve a positive birth experience that will be considered a highlight of their life."
